Project Ability is a leading visual arts organisation which enables people with disabilities and mental health issues to discover their artistic expression, develop their artistic practice and achieve their creative potential. We respect and appreciate individuality and value diversity.

Project Ability provides weekly art classes and a specialist programme of workshops in subjects such as woodcarving, ceramics, stained glass, film making and animation, life drawing, digital arts, printmaking and other art forms.

At our purpose-built accessible arts centre at Trongate 103, we provide time and space and expert tuition, supporting people and to develop, through a multi layered programme of arts classes, learning and training opportunities and exhibitions.

There are three core programmes of activity

  • Create: for children and young people with disabilities.
  • Aspire: for adults with learning disabilities.
  • Connect: for adults with mental health issues.

Over three hundred people each week take part in our year round workshop programme. Create, Aspire and Connect each has its own dedicated staff and a team of commited, profesional artists who are highly experienced in supporting people with a wide range of needs.

Project Ability seeks to be a model of best practice and has a principle role in cultivating UK and international creative partnerships. We frequently collaborate with like-minded organisations to promote learning and discussion on diversity and inclusive arts practices.

Our gallery promotes contemporary artworks by artists with disabilities and mental health issues from the UK and overseas whilst our gallery shop sells a unique selection of original artworks and cards, publications, handmade jewellry and other unusual items.

Established in 1984, Project Ability celebrates its 25 anniversary with its relocation to Trongate 103.
