Summer Art Rammy is back and bigger than ever!

Each day there will be free creative workshops for youngsters to learn and enjoy.

WEEK 1 

Tuesday 6 July

  • Paper Puppets

With Glasgow Print Studio and Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre

For 7-12 years

Visit Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre for a specially designed performance. Learn how the moving sculptures were created and listen to the fascinating stories behind them.Afterwards you will move onto Glasgow Print Studio and construct your very own colourful moving paper puppet and explore printmaking techniques.

  • Green Screen Scene

With Project Ability and Street Level Photoworks

For 13 - 16 years

Want to star in, direct and digitally manipulate original digital photographic images? Using Project Ability's green screen, you can work together to create imaginative fantasy scenes that will then be transferred to Street Level's digital production resource.  Your work will then be displayed in T103's foyer! Please bring a packed lunch.

Wednesday 7 July

  • Corkscrew Puppets

With Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre

 For 8 - 13 years

Visit Sharmanka for a specially designed performance. Learn how the moving sculptures were created and listen to the fascinating stories behind them.  Then create your own kinetic puppet from a simple corkscrew and variety of found and scrap objects.

Thursday 8 July

  •  T103 Art Rammy Media team (2 day event)

With GMAC

For 12 - 16 years

GMAC are looking for young people to take part in a 2 day media making workshop to document the Art Rammy activities in Trongate 103.  Learn about the aspects of film making from devising ideas to screening ~ including writing, storyboarding, camera, sound recording and editing. Participants will screen their work during the Rammy and take home a DVD at the end of the course.

  •  Print Trail

With Glasgow Print Studio, Sharmanka and Street Level Photoworks

For 7 - 12 years

Take a line for a walk through three T103 organisations in Print Trail.

Incorporate drawings of Sharmanka Kinetic sculptures into photographs in Street Level Photoworks darkroom and then into colourful screen prints at Glasgow Print Studio. Drawings will be photo exposed onto screens ready to transform images into colourful screen printed works of art. This one day workshop includes a performance at Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre. Please bring a packed lunch.

Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 July

  • Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre Performance 

For 5+

Hundreds of carved figures and pieces of old scrap perform an incredible choreography to haunting music and synchronised light, telling the funny and tragic stories of the human spirit.

1pm & 3pm (duration 30 minutes)   NB: Cost: free for under 16's when accompanied by a fee paying adult, max 2 free children per adult.  Adult prices: £5/ £3 (concession)

Tuesday 13 July 

  • The Avant - Garde Poster Club

With Glasgow Print Studio, GMAC and Russian Café - Gallery Cossachok

 For 12 - 16 years

Visit GMAC's cinema for a filming from Aelita, followed by a short introduction to Russian Avant - Garde culture and find out about the Avant - Garde movement. Move onto Glasgow Print Studio to take a look at posters from their archive then design and produce your own colourful screen printed poster! Lunch will be provided by Russian-Gallery Café Cossachok

  • Banner Making Workshop

With Project Ability

For 8 - 12 years

Using a range of materials and collage techniques you will be working in a group to create a colourful banner to decorate the foyer of Trongate 103!

(Banner launch on Sat 17th July until Wed 21st)

With Glasgow Print Studio

For 12 - 16 years

Visit Glasgow Print Studio's Learning Zone and find out how to make your own mini books. Choose from a selection of book formats and make your book unique by printing designs on the front cover and even on the pages! Collect and bring along your own interesting paper, wrapping paper, magazine cuttings to include in your little book.

Family Weekends - Summer Art Rammy Special

On the third weekend each month, Trongate 103's tenants provide free workshops for families to enjoy being creative together. Each month there will be a new creative skill for you to learn and enjoy so you will want to come back again and again.

  • Make Your Own Photo Badges and Mirrors
    With Street Level Photoworks

For 5 - 12 years

Create your own designs, drawings and include your favourite photograph in a badge or mirror. Please bring along one special photograph, which will be copied on the day.

  • Photofigures - working in the darkroom

With Street Level Photoworks

For 7 - 12 years

Create photographic figures using toy figurines, action figures, and imagination! Working in Street Level's darkroom, create camera-less prints using only shapes, light and special chemistry. Please bring along 1or 2 action figures for use during the workshop.

  • Straw Doll Workshop
    With Russian Café - Gallery Cossachok

For 5 - 12 years


Using ‘Dailrade' original materials from Baltic Republics, this workshop provides a unique opportunity for young people to spend some time making toys and puppets in the colourful environment of the Russian Café - Gallery Cossachok. The workshop is led by experienced Lithuanian craftsmen and artists. Materials will be provided.

12-1pm & 2 - 3pm

 

  • Funky fashions - Create your own bright, funky designs at this fun packed workshop.

With Glasgow Print Studio

For 7 - 12 years

Choose from a selection of images & patterns then screenprint designs onto your garments. Customize with fabric, ribbons, buttons and beads to create a funky original outfit.

(Please note you should bring along 2 items of light coloured clothing with you to this workshop)

Brighten up the Trongate 103 building by decorating the Foyer windows in colourful acetates for all to see inside and out!

  • Body Puzzles - Create your own wild and wacky characters
    With Glasgow Print Studio

For ages 7-12 years

Through a combination of drawing, ink, colour, rollers and printing, participants will collectively make detailed printing blocks that can be combined in any sequence to create their own imaginative characters. Robots with wings, angels on wheels, man with crazy long arms - you decide!

  • Painting Russian Fairy Tales
    With Russian Café - Gallery Cossachok

For 6 - 10 years

This exciting and very popular workshop consists of mastering traditional Russian skills such as drawing fairy tales on wooden boards. After listening to a story about the adventures of Kolobok, the participants will then create their own interpretations of the story with acrylic paints.
